miRobot's automatic milking technology brings this traditional activity into the space age, in an almost sci fi manner. The robot detects the cow's udders, gently approaches and then attaches itself to them to begin the milking process. The whole process is shorter and more controlled, including the pre and post milking procedures. The design challenge was to adapt a highly sophisticated device to a rough and dirty environment, while keeping a futuristic appearance with a subtle sci fi feel.
