Hexagon Metrology | 360 SIMS

The 360 SIMS is a tool designed for engineers and designers in the automotive industry, for quality control.

 

It is used to compare the actual reality with the design intentions, i.e. how accurate is the manufacturing process of the car, by checking the surface quality of large parts. The core of the device is the existing WLS 400 system, with its carbon fibre skeleton, which had to be visible through the new covers. 

 

It was essential to create a shape with a character that will be visible from every angle, even in the midst of all the industrial visual noise, being such a small element in a sea of mechanical whales.
